Back Online!

Finally, I'm back online.  I've had some computer issues and haven't been able to get on the internet from my computer.  I have had limited access through Alex's iPod, but not enough to post any updates.

So, now that I'm back, keep an eye out for new posts.  I have a lot of new designs.  Actually, I have more new designs than I have time to post updates!

MayBirds on Facebook

I have set up a Facebook account for MayBird Beads.  So if you are a Facebook addict (like me), pop on over and Like me!

I have tried to no avail to add a Facebook Like button to my blog, but I'm not nearly as tech saavy as I pretend to be.

Front-Clasp Turquoise Necklace Set

A friend at church showed me a clasp-front necklace, and I fell in love.  Such a fun design putting the clasp on display instead of hiding it at the back of the neck.  Since I saw hers, I've found myself examing the bead stores for beads to accent the clasp.

This sterling clasp on this necklace is accented with delicious Serpentine Turquoise.  The turquoise has a deep, rich turquoise color with tan striations.  It also features Chalk Turquoise, Smokey Quartz, chocolate brown River Stone, and sterling beads.  Turquoise-colored glass seed beads run up the back of the necklace, keeping it lightweight.  The necklace measures 17 inches to the clasp, with a 2-inch pendant.  SOLD

**This little beauty sold within 45 minutes of being up on Facebook!  That's a new record for me!**

The earrings are just perfect!  They measure 1-3/4 inches and are a little funky.  The earrings cost $15.

Handpainted Pendant Necklace

My personal favorite.  I love, love, love this necklace, and I'm going to have a hard time selling it.  It's beautiful; it goes with just about anything; and it's surprisingly lightweight.  The pendant is handpainted wood with deep blues and black.  I've added blue and black glass beads and denimy-blue sodalite beads.  It is finished with a sterling hook clasp and a 2-inch sterling extender.  $52

Updates!

Now that summer has begun and the kids are out of school, my days just got a whole lot slower.  Not easier, mind you.  Just slower.  So, I finally have time to update, and do I have a lot to update!  I will be updating this site with a new design daily.  Yes, daily!

So check back each day and see a new piece of jewelry.  Some may be already sold, but I can always design a similar piece.  With some exceptions, I try to keep each piece unique so a copy may not be an exact copy.  But I can make something very similar with its own unique quality.

Thanks for checking in on me and enjoy the updates.  I'm so proud of each piece I make.

Busy, Busy, Busy...

I have been so very busy over the course of the last month, that I've not had any time to update my MayBird happenings.  Yesterday was the last of my super-busy days, so now I have time to unwind, settle down, and blog!  In the past four weeks, I've done two craft shows and had so much fun.

The first show was one that my wonderful friend Susan and I coordinated.  We are hoping to have this craft show twice a year and give the Christmas Connection a little friendly competition.  We called our show "Simple Treasures Spring Market."  (The Fall show will be "Simple Treasures Holiday Market.")  The Spring show was just a small one, with only five vendors.  In the end, one vendor got the flu and another had a death in her family, so there were just three of us.  But what a reception we had!  I couldn't believe how many people came to shop and how well we all did.  I am so excited about our Holiday Market.  We have had several crafters say they are interested in joining us, and I think we will have a great group of unique handmade items to offer.  Check back soon for dates as I am working on this project very soon.

Yesterday was my second craft show.  My sweet mother and I set up a tent at the Spring for Downtown craft show in downtown Kingsport.  We were right next to Racks on the Tracks, the rib competition, and it smelled so good.  There were some really great crafters and a whole lot of visitors.  I talked with so many nice people, and I got some great advice from some fellow jewelry makers.  The weather held out for us until about 3:00, when a storm packing a mighty punch moved in.  Super big, special thanks go out to Nicole Lawson and her husband for helping us keep our tent on the ground and holding it there while I frantically packed/threw everything into totes to keep it dry.  And another super big, special thanks to the nice man who helped us break down our tent.  Turned out that one of the metal legs bent in the wind, and without his help and strength, Mom and I could not have folded the tent down small enough to fit into the car.  Despite the storm, I had a really fun day.  It was nice to hang out with my mom, talk, and people watch.  And it's always very nice to hear other people say they like my work!

I've got lots of jewelry to add to my blog. Check back often to see the new things I've been working on.  And if you're on Facebook, check out the MayBird Beads Facebook page.

Look What I Got!

I am just too excited to show you my real, official business cards!  I've been struggling with a design for more than a year, and I just love how these turned out.

And I even have real, official earring cards too!
